To highlight the breadth and scope of our work, during 2025 we invite you to Walk With TNT! We will be regularly updating our social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) showing you as many of the churches, organisations and projects we are privileged enough to support across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

As we visit partners, we will be plotting our travels on this interactive map. We look forward to challenging ourselves to visit as many as we can over 2025!

Jan - NHS/Faith Integrated Neighbourhood Working Programme event

Simon led an event bringing together Faith representatives, community and voluntary sector workers, and the NHS at our Faith/Health Integrated Neighbourhood Working Programme event, held at the Salvation Army in Aspley.

Methodist City Centre Pioneer Advisory group

Nigel met with the Nottingham City Pioneer Project, who (interestingly) meet at the Revolution Bar near Old Market Square!

Jan - Christian Action Nottingham (CAN)

Did you know we host the Christian Action Nottingham (CAN) network for churches, organisations, charities, and projects pursuing social action and social justice? This week we met at Trent Vineyard where we discussed upcoming events, local challenges and had a chance to pray with and for one another. If you would like to join the network, please contact us.

Jan - Breaking Barriers Building Bridges

Samra (our Near Neighbours development worker) met with Maxine to discuss a NN grant to support young people across Nottingham, focusing on trauma, wellbeing support and how to protest safely. Maxine and her team at Breaking Barriers Building Bridges, were instrumental in supporting young people during the summer riots across Nottingham last year.

Nigel met with the wonderful team at St Katherine's Church, Teversal who run the weekly Places of Welcome space. It is wonderful to see the groups running and to be on hand to offer any support or guidance that might be needed.

Hope Hut

Jan - Hope Hut

Hope Hut, in St Ann's, have recently joined the Places of Welcome network and have been offering a warm, welcome space for local residents to come and connect with others, for the last 5/6 years. There are lots of activities run weekly, such as the Mum Hut (a weekly meeting for mums to connect with each other), the Dad Hut (likewise, but for dads) and the Running Hut (which meets for a run, a chat and coffee).

Skegby Library

Another day, another Places of Welcome visit for Nigel, and the WalkWithTNT boots! This time, to Skegby Library who meet on Monday's between 1pm and 3pm, and on Wednesday's from 9:30am until 11am. You can find your closest POW space using our interactive map.

Following on from our recent Health and Faith event with members of the NHS and religious leaders, Simon met with Clinical Directors of the Raleigh Primary Network to discuss Integrated Neighbourhood Working.

Jan - Diversify Education, Care and Communities CIC

Shanine, from Diversify Education CIC, met with Simon to discuss the Near Neighbours grant programme. They are doing some amazing work from Beechdale Community Centre working with a range of cultures with clear commitment to faith.

Nigel paid a visit to HOPE Nottingham to meet with Teresa, and others, to discuss the development of community hubs across the City and County.

Angolan Women Voice Association

Feb - Angolan Women's Voice Association

Samra met with the Angolan Women's Voice Association UK in Radford to discuss a Near Neighbours grant. They support diverse people in Nottingham to build relationships of trust and friendship through various activities such as arts and craft, fitness sessions, training workshops, celebration events and through one-to-ones.

Magdalene Centre Sutton in Ashfield

Feb - Magdalene Centre, Sutton in Ashfield

Nigel met with the team at the Magdalene Centre who are exploring how to expand their current foodbank to further meet the needs of their local community. You may know, Nigel has a passion for community hubs and he has been meeting the team at the Magdalene Centre frequently to support them as they expand.

Jericho Road

Feb - Jericho Road 25th Celebration

A huge congratulations to our friends at Jericho Road who celebrated 25 years on Saturday! Nigel (and the boots) attended the event to lead a seminar on "Making Church a Safer Place for Everyone."

Feb - ICS Partners Assembly, Indian Community Centre

There are so many opportunities for churches and faith projects to get involved in health projects at the moment.

Simon attended the annual ICS Partners Assembly where we heard the chair of the ICS Dr Katy McClean talk about the new 10 year plan for the NHS.

Simon then helped facilitate discussion around one of the tables as we talked about the move from hospitals to the community; making better use of technology; and prevention not just treatment.

As you know, we love community hubs and seek to offer advise and support to any church, organisation or project that is interested to know more.

Birmingham NN

Feb - Near Neighbours network meeting, Birmingham

Our boots went on the train down to Birmingham when Simon met with Near Neighbours national team and with those leading Near Neighbours in Birmingham, Middlesbrough, Liverpool, Leeds, Luton and East London. They shared some good practice and explored how we have all responded to issues of community cohesion locally.

Unity House Housing Steering Group meeting

Feb - Unity House, CAN Housing Steering Group

Following on from our Housing Conference in November 2023, we set up a housing steering group seeking to make real change around the issue of a lack of affordable housing. Since the event a not-for-profit letting agency, Yes Lets, has been set up to offer housing to those who may struggle with traditional lettings criteria (guarantors, etc). We are now working to develop a Nottingham Investment Fund which would allow people to invest into land/property which would be available at an affordable rent (in line with Local Housing Allowance).

Nigel visited the Renew Café at Basford Road Baptist Church, an established Places of Welcome space.

A great visit for Nigel at the Knit & Chat, a Place of Welcome, where he saw their beautiful knitted poppy display.

Office of Police NN

Feb - Engaging with Faith Communities, A Listening Event

Hosted by the Nottinghamshire Crime Commissioners Office and the Violence Reduction Partnership, Samra attended this event as the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Near Neighbours representative.

We are so grateful to our trustees for keeping us in order, offering advice and support for us as staff.

On Tuesday Simon met with our Chair Bp Peter Hill and John Chambers to review our budget and discuss our fundraising plans. A huge thank you for all your help.
