Near Neighbours visits Buckingham Palace!
Our Near Neighbours coordinator, Samra, represents Nottingham on a trip to visit the King!
Near Neighbours is a national charity funded by Department of Levelling Up Housing and Communities that has been around for over 10 years to bring diverse ethnic and faith communities together so they can get to know one another better and build relationships of trust. This year we relaunched in Nottingham to specifically deliver small grants and diversify Places of Welcome and recruit grassroot leaders onto a Leadership for Effective Change programme.
So far, we have delivered a launch event for Inter Faith Week where people came together to network and hear more about Near Neighbours opportunities. Last week, Samra, our coordinator was invited to Buckingham Palace to meet the King on a reception on ‘how faith communities come together despite current challenges’. The reception took form in three round table discussions, where the King joined each table for to hear challenges affected by faith communities, followed by ways to overcome them with the Kings support.

We are now looking forward to supporting over 10 grantees in Nottingham with Near Neighbours grant as well as setting up/ diversifying 10 Places of Welcome and delivering 2 events that bring diverse ethnic and faith communities together.
