Wayfinder
A volunteer-led programme supporting people affected by homelessness by building long-term relationships and connection.
This programme has now ended.
Over the past 2 and a half years we have coordinated befriending matches that have enabled participants to sustain independent living through signposting and local support networks. Participants have had the opportunity to build strong relationships with their volunteer and in their local community.
What is Wayfinder?
In partnership with the Together Network and Church Urban Fund, we are launching Wayfinder, a programme that is founded in recognition of the importance of relationships in breaking the cycle of homelessness.
Over the past 7 years, CUF has partnered with local community organisations and churches to support people as they find a route out of homelessness. We have found that social isolation is a huge barrier to full recovery, leaving many people alone as they experience the ups and downs of sustaining a home.
Wayfinder, responds to these learnings and focuses on building more effective and sustainable relationships with people in need – particularly those in new tenancies.
Through Wayfinder, local volunteers will be equipped by Transforming Notts Together through specific training to provide one-to-one support for people after a period of homelessness. This support could include practical guidance or assistance, being available as a listening ear, and coming alongside those participating in the programme.
