We're Recruiting- Assistant Development Worker (initially 6 months- 17.5 hpw)

Role: Assistant Development Worker: Building Communities (17.5 hours, flexible)

Transforming Notts Together (TNT) was set up in 2013 jointly by the Church Urban Fund (CUF) and the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham. We exist to inspire, equip and connect churches as they help people break free from poverty. We do this by:

  • Inspiring churches to engage with communities by bringing to life how injustice and inequality impacts on people.
  • Equipping and partnering with churches, enhancing and developing their skills and resources so they can make a greater difference locally.
  • Connecting churches and Christian organisations by coordinating networks and promoting wider collaborative working.

Following growth in our work to tackle loneliness and isolation in communities, we are looking for an organised Assistant Development Worker to join our small, friendly team to support the development of this work. This post is initially for 6 months due to funding but we are currently working on securing funding to continue this role, although we can’t guarantee that more will be in place at the end of 6 months. The hours can be worked very flexibly although we do ask all team to be able to attend team meetings if possible twice monthly 9.30-10.30 on Mondays (although do talk to us if that may be an issue).

Aim of Role:

To support colleagues in the delivery and development of Places of Welcome and bereavement groups, as well as supporting the staff team to deliver workshops on Grief, and Mental Health awareness.

  • Supporting the delivery of Places of Welcome coordination and growth through behind-the-scenes administration including keeping details up to date, updating the website and gathering relevant info.
  • Following up for longer term impact reporting - through visits, emails and phone calls to feed this into wider TNT reporting
  • Supporting the Lead DW to encourage Places of Welcome coordinators through regular visits, connection and relevant resources.
  • Gathering and sharing appropriate (with permission) stories & photos on social media to encourage others to consider this work and share what churches are doing in their communities.
  • Helping facilitate structured conversations within some Places of Welcome in order to hear what guests see as local assets and needs in their local communities.
  • Supporting at times other members of the TNT team in their delivery of workshops such as on Grief & bereavement, and Mental Health.
  • Operating as part of the wider TNT team- attending team meetings, sharing about other work delivered by TNT and partners
