Equipping Churches

Are you exploring how you or your church could get involved in social action? Get in touch to chat about how we can support you with this. Also here is some useful information to get started...

TNT offers a number of workshops to support churches to engage with their local communities. We want to help bring transformation, but avoid duplication. It is not just about doing more but about working together to share skills and lived experience, in order to have a lasting and sustainable impact.

Grief and Loss Workshop

This is a free two and a half hour (online via Zoom) workshop where you will learn and share together about impact of grief and loss. We will look at how best to support someone, what to say and do that would be helpful. Email julia@transformingnottstogether.org.uk for more information or to book.

Dementia Friendly Church

Although our funding to offer Dementia Awareness workshops has now ended, you can visit our Dementia Friendly Churches section of our website for lots of practical tips on how to make your church building more accessible or for external support resources.

Let's Talk Money: Young People

Let's Talk Money: Young People is a free one hour workshop, aimed at equipping 16 to 20 year olds with money skills for life. It can be delivered online, or in person, and is suitable for youth groups, schools and colleges. We also have an adult version for Urdu speakers.

Places of Welcome

Transforming Notts Together is pleased to work with the national Places Of Welcome Network as the Notts Area Coordinator. It is a growing network of local community groups providing their neighbourhoods with places where all people feel safe to belong, connect and contribute.

Places of Welcome can be in any location including churches, mosques, temples, community centres or housing associations. We are currently in conversation with libraries across the county and some churches about starting new PWs as lockdown eases. You can find out more information on our Places of Welcome page.

If you would like to do something, but opening a Place of Welcome is not possible, Paul Howard talks in the video below about the practicalities of starting a coffee morning in your community.

Growing Good

Growing Good is a free six session course helping churches explore the connection between social
action, discipleship and growth. The Growing Good Toolkit is based on a three-year research project from Theos and Church Urban Fund that explored the relationship between social action, growth and discipleship in the Church of England. The research identified five common themes shared by churches that are growing in faithfulness and fruitfulness: presence, perseverance, hospitality, adaptability, participation.

Growing Good can be delivered 'in-house' or why not contact us to find out how Transforming Notts Together can help you facilitate this in your church.
